PitaPata Dog tickers

I had a lovely present today, a Kong toy. They say it is indestructible.... They sometimes put some peanut butter, or some small treats inside and I can happily spend an hour trying to get the food out.  I love it.

Today I was really bad. Kate had put Nigel’s slippers on the radiator to warm and I took one off and chewed it. It is unwearable now. I don’t know why they don’t just give it to me. It would be so much easier. Kate then sprayed something on it and gave it back. I think she was hoping that it would be horrid but I quite liked it so she took it away again.

And to top off the morning I had a bit of a bad experience. I was sniffing round the telephone table and got the phone cord wrapped round my neck. I tried to run away, half strangled myself and brought down the table, phone and  CD player. The table went flying, along with the address box, pens and pencils and a charity collection box full of change.  I was still tugging to get away and strangling myself in the process when Kate came out of the study and calmly removed the cord. I felt rather subdued after that but I wasn’t told off. I did then however leap onto a slice of marmaladey toast left on the coffee table for just a moment.  I was very told off then!!!  I must go, it’s time for a walk in the snow. I love snow!

It was a really fun day today.  Kate was clearing out the space where the dog food is kept and she found a chew proof container for my food.  She let me play with two empty food sacks.  I managed to get right inside them to make sure that she hadn’t missed any food by mistake.  Then I thought it would be fun to rip them apart... The kitchen looked like a disaster area.  It was good though as all the chewed paper went on the woodburner and kept me warm.  Recycling at its best!

Its been a while since I did anything naughty so I thought I’d start with gusto today. I have found a couple of pieces of wood that are rather tasty. One pads out the stair gate to the kitchen and I can really get my teeth round it. The other is on the stairs by the bannister. I managed to chew right through it and get to the banister this afternoon. I think the wood is there to stop me getting  to the shoes under the stairs. I wonder how long it will take for me to chew a hole big enough to get through....

I got the nozzle off the Dyson today.  If they try hard it will still fit on the hose. I will have to chew harder next time it is lying about.  The next thing I got was the brown lead. This was after they kept taking the kindling away from me. I take it out of the basket, they put it back. It is a never ending cycle. They will give up eventually. I intend to wear them down.

They have started to provide me with large black flowerpots in the hope that I will chew them instead of the kindling etc. I like flowerpots... I can run round the house with one in my mouth, but I can’t see where I am going.  They get destroyed really quickly. Uncle Nigel had better have an unlimited supply of pots as I can get through 2 in a day!
I did hear mention that there are not going to be any decorations put up this year. I wonder why?....

Thursday, 9 December 2010

Today was an exciting day! I got upstairs again!!! Someone left the stair gate open and  I emptied and scattered the bedroom bin contents, chewed pine cones from the Christmas decorations trunk and chewed a toilet roll inner... leaving bits all over the landing. I had a great afternoon.

Total of things chewed today: one radiator valve cover. Not a successful day.

Wednesday, 1 December 2010

Start the month as you mean to go on... Kate left the stair gate to the stairs open this afternoon. I had a lovely time removing all the bits and pieces they had imagined were safe behind the gate. I chewed on two pairs of slippers, a dustpan brush and a roll of black insulating tape.  It has been snowing. I like the snow; I love my cosy warm coat too and am good as gold as I wait for them to put it on me. I know what’s coming!

Sunday, 28 November 2010

I went for a very long walk today, along the main road and to the countryside centre. It must have been over 2 miles.  I am getting the hang of this lead walking now but am not keen when a shreaky ambulance comes along the road, rushing by my ear.

Monday, 22 November 2010

They have just discovered that I am a lurcher... a sight hound crossed with a scent hound.  Apparently I am going to be very challenging on the recall. (I think they knew that already).  I want to be good but it is so hard.

I love the fire though and if it is burning, I am really good and quiet, resting in front, on the mat.

Sunday, 14 November 2010

A fairly uneventful day: one little wee in the lounge, a long chase after a pheasant, totally ignoring Nigel AND Kate.... he he he. Oh yes, and a go at the gate again. Nigel has installed some very strong metal netting over the gate. How long will it last?....

Saturday, 13 November 2010

The routine went  to pot a bit: I expected to go out and play but Nigel was loading muck into a trailer in the yard. I wanted to play too so I bashed my way through the gate again. I am sorry to say I broke the corrugated plastic so now Nigel is looking into getting wire netting.  He thinks he can keep me in....

I also sneaked up the stairs when the gate was left open for just a minute, and collected a slipper to chew in my bed. It was not one of my better decisions as Kate was really cross with me.  I think it was her slipper this time.  I like slippers: they smell so good!

An uneventful day, just a nail brush, my special food bowl and a tea towel chewed

Thursday, 11 November 2010

I was really good all day, until the electrician arrived to install a ceiling fan. He went upstairs to look at floorboards or something and left the stair gate open. Ha Ha! I managed to grab Uncle Nigel’s slipper and chew another corner off before anyone noticed.  I also had fun on my walk, chasing scents of pheasants, and ignoring Nigel. Unfortunately this meant a  walk back home on the lead, in disgrace.

Wednesday, 10 November 2010

Total objects chewed today: 2 plastic food containers,  a wooden picture frame, an empty bread bag, the wickerwork toy basket.  Not a bad day’s work.  Why is it that they have put ANOTHER stair gate up? This time into the kitchen. I was enjoying those oranges. The evening was spent with  my head inside a half chewed rugby ball, with my nose sticking out the end, not able to see where I was going, blundering about but able to chew the ball from the inside out.  They took it off but I wanted to wear it again. In the end it was confiscated. I don’t know why. I may have got a little close to the woodburner I suppose.

Tuesday, 9 November 2010

I found an orange in the fruit bowl on the kitchen table but wasn’t keen on it so left it slightly squashed in my bed. It was hard to get; I had to leave a lot of muddy paw prints up the wall to get it.  I tried to get another and pierced the skin with my claws but it wouldn’t come out of the bowl. I did enjoy shredding the washing up sponges though.
